We welcome volunteers who want to do their internship or school project with us or help in another way.
Many volunteer opportunities
Volunteer work involves helping at primary school, mainly teaching English to baby class and top class. Mostly, you will assist during classes and supervise the kids during their breaks. Our school also has football teams, so it’s possible that you might help with that if you're interested in sports. It really depends on what's happening at the time, where you're most needed, and your own interests. If you have a particular educational background and a vision for how you could help the school or hotel, we’re open to that! Or you can help create content for social media, organize something creative, help with sports, gardening, etc. You don’t need any particular educational background to volunteer with us! We would love to hear your ideas and interests, and discuss the possibilities.
Are you still studying?
You can also come while still studying, as we also offer school projects and internships. Some examples include: nurses, teachers, sports trainers, entertainment, community projects, agriculture, horticulture, and various other interests. Just let us know what the requirements are for school and we can try to make it fit.
Your stay at Hotel Hollandia
You will be staying in our volunteer accommodation at Hotel Hollandia, located right above the schools on the same hill in Bukomansimbi. You will eat in our restaurant as well.
Requirement
The age requirement is a minimum of 17 years old, with no maximum age! The most important factors are that you are mature, responsible, and can communicate in English. If you are below 17 but demonstrate maturity and your parents approve, we can make exceptions.
Costs of accommodation, meals, etc
As a volunteer, you will pay €25 a day (for the first month) for accommodation, three meals a day (excluding drinks), room cleaning, laundry, etc. If you stay longer than 1 month, the costs of the following months will be €20 a day. This fee is just to cover costs, so you will pay less compared to other guests since you’re volunteering. In addition, you will be responsible for your own plane ticket, vaccinations (Yellow Fever is mandatory), visa, and other activities.
You can even book a safari if you're interested while you're here. Once you have arrived you can always decide to stay longer or leave earlier. Moreover, your family and friends are always welcome to visit.
How to get to Bukomansimbi?
You will probably arrive at Entebbe airport late at night. The first night you will sleep in Entebbe and the next morning we will pick you up from your accommodation and take you to our schools. We recommend spending the first night at ViaVia Hostel in Entebbe (they also do airport pickups) as it’s best to do the 3-4 hour drive to Bukomansimbi during day. The next morning our driver will pick you up and drive you to Bukomansimbi. You will only pay for the fuel, not for the driver. We will also drop you off at the airport when you go home.
How long do you want to come?
You can decide when and for how long you want to come, as long as it is for at least two weeks. If you are only coming for a few weeks, it is important that you avoid the children's holidays. The holidays in 2025 are as follows:
NB
We recommend that you check flight ticket prices before deciding when to come as they can vary widely.
